Welcome Deer Hunters

Whitetail_Deer_2-InBush

Deer Hunting is one of the oldest sports that anyone, any age, can enjoy.  Successful hunts place meat in our freezers, trophies on our walls, and for some of us, our names in the record books.  Pursuing  and harvesting a whitetail deer is rewarding and very challenging.  Many obstacles have to be defeated to  reach our goal.

Over the years deer hunters have declined, but we are experiencing an increase of women and children becoming involved.    Learning how to hunt is usually passed on from family members and future hunters are born every day.  The sport of deer hunting will be around for generations to come.

Aboutdeerhunting.com would like to do our part in promoting deer hunting.  Our website contains FREE Techniques and Tips in our Deer Hunting Tips tab.  Need Deer Hunting Gear?  Find your products under Discount Deer Hunting Gear and learn how we save on items year-round!

The Chase Ends for Big City

In autumn 2016, Illinois had been experiencing above-average high temperatures for the last few months. The most recent information I obtained from trail cameras, showed a lot of morning movement when the temperatures were cooler. On Nov. 6, I knew it was that time; I just had that feeling as temperatures were projected to be much cooler that morning. I called my buddy, Aaron Cully, and said we have to go […]

How to Make the Best Bow Shot to Kill a Deer

The anatomy of every successful bow shot hinges on many synchronous yet dynamic elements. This lends bowhunting the drama that keeps us coming back, but we also have an ethical obligation to eliminate uncertainty from the equation whenever possible. By Patrick Meitin Many view successful shooting as a purely-physical function of aligning sights to send arrows through vitals, but scratch- ing beyond the obvious there’s more to this than the […]

Get More Serious about Your Total Scent Control

Total scent control is one of today’s hottest topics among serious hunters. Whitetails live and die by their noses, and by the time a buck reaches maturity his nasal gland has filtered millions — if not trillions — of odors. Is a whitetail’s sense of smell as good as it’s cracked up to be? I’d say definitely. Scent, or lack of it, probably plays a role in every successful hunt. Some […]

Top Tips, Strategies for Using Doe Bleats to Kill Bucks

There are many ways to outsmart a whitetail, and I would like to think that I’ve employed most of them over the years. Although I’ve seen some innovative tactics work like charms, I would have never imagined that boredom would lead to three of my most memorable filled tags in 2007. That’s right, it all started through tedium: yawning uncontrollably and literally bored to tears. These are the days when you […]
